About this course
Home Helpers for grades 3 to 5 teaches the life skills a capable kid can own: a Helper chart, a tidy room, laundry start to finish, kitchen helper jobs with no heat or knives, setting and clearing, plants and pets, reading a clock and planning a week, sewing on a button with a grown-up, clean-up and recycling, lists and errands, being ready for anything, and a real thank-you note. Ferris the Fox and the Tomorrow Trail friends teach each job as steps, then a plan the child keeps. Saturday is Family Helper Day, when the child does the week's job at home with a grown-up. Every week is free.
Kids will
- Keep a Helper chart and check it daily
- Do laundry from sorting to putting away, with a grown-up running the machine
- Measure, mix, pack a lunch and wipe up as a kitchen helper, with no heat or knives
- Set, serve and clear a family table and load a dishwasher with a grown-up
- Keep a watering and pet-care schedule
- Read a clock to the minute, plan a morning and a week, and use a timer
- Sew on a button with a grown-up and fix a shoelace knot
- Know who to ask for help, what to do for a scrape, and a family fire plan
