About this course
Algebra 2 Grades 9 to 12 is a 12-week high-school algebra course. Students join Comet and Wren in the Glass House, the old greenhouse behind the community center that the crew restores for a spring Open House, and every week's math makes part of the greenhouse work. The course covers complex numbers, polynomial functions and their graphs, polynomial division and the remainder theorem, rational expressions and equations, radical equations and inverse functions, exponential functions and geometric series, logarithms, building and transforming functions, trigonometry on the unit circle, periodic models, conditional probability and independence, and the normal model with sampling, experiments and simulation. Every week lists the Common Core high-school standards it practices. Short daily lessons with checked answers, a hands-on Glass House Lab each week and a Saturday Garden Day for the family. No accounts, apps or software needed. 100% free, start to finish.
Kids will
- Work with complex numbers and solve any quadratic equation, real solutions or not
- Graph, divide and factor polynomials, and solve rational and radical equations with their checks
- Model growth and decay with exponential functions and undo them with logarithms
- Build, combine, transform, invert and compare functions given in different ways
- Use the unit circle to extend sine and cosine to any angle and fit a periodic model
- Reason with conditional probability, the normal model and simulation-based inference
